(This feature is in development.)
First, be certain to have completed the Story "In Want of a Home" and have claimed a terraced house as your own.
You must be the owner of the home to use any of the redecoration features. Homes are currently owned and can be redecorated by only a single character. In the future, we intend to allow you to customize your home permissions with Family or visiting friends.
You can redecorate the wall coverings of your home, move the furniture around and put things away into your Warehouse. If you desire more furnishings, such as a chess table or a privacy screen, you can make additional purchases in the Marketplace and then place them in your home. (Future updates will include flooring options, additional wallcoverings and more furnishings.)
Choose from a small initial selection of wallpaper for each of your rooms. You may choose to match throughout your home or pick a different look for each room.
You must be standing in the room to change the room’s wallcovering. Left click on any of the walls inside the room to bring up the Change Room Window. This window will temporarily replace the Personality Traits/Greeting Button at the bottom center of the screen.
(Note: With this implementation, there may be a few second delay between clicking the wall and the window appearing. Try clicking a different wall in the room if the window is not appearing correctly.)
Click on each of the different wallpapers in the list to get a preview of that selection in your current room. If you’d like to choose your current selection click the “Save” button. Your change will not be permanent until you click this button.
The window will return to Personality Traits / Greetings.
Your home comes with a set of default furniture. You can move any of this furniture around the inside of your home.
If you would like to move something between rooms or floors we suggest you add it to your Warehouse, walk to the new room and then remove it from your Warehouse. The instructions for moving things into and out of your Warehouse are below.
We also recommend facing straight in the direction you wish to move before selecting the Move button. It may take some practice as the direction the buttons will move your furniture is based on your character's position when first starting to move the furniture.
Left click on any of your furniture to bring up the Move Furniture window.
This window allows you to move your furniture in four directions flat on the floor and rotate, left or right, a set amount with each click. With this first implementation you cannot move furnishings up or down.
It is important to click the “Save” button after you have positioned your furniture to your liking.
If you wish to restart from the original position, click the “Reset” button.
(Note: Your saved changes should be quickly visible to other players, but we have found in testing that other players will sometimes have to log out and return to see your changes.)
As of Open Beta Update 5, we have added the first implementation of a new furniture type called "Accessories". These items may be placed on other furniture, such as the "Bracket Clock" on a side table. Multiple accessories may be placed on a piece of furniture. You may place an accessory by selecting it from your Warehouse, clicking on the parent furniture, and move/save the accessory's position. To facilitate furniture with multiple flat surfaces, like an empty book case, the accessories move window also allows you to control the object up or down. Be sure to save after moving your accessory.
If you would like to store something for later use you can place it into your Warehouse. This will remove it from view, but can currently be recalled at any time. Click the Warehouse button on the Action Bar in the lower right corner to bring up the Warehouse menu.
From this menu, you can choose to retrieve something from the Warehouse (arrow pointing out) or put something into the Warehouse (arrow point in).
Click the button with the arrow pointing into the Warehouse.
Now you can click on a piece of furniture to move it from your home to your Warehouse. It’s important to note that, with this first implementation, we are not “counting” items. This means if you place something in your Warehouse you will be able to place it back in your home multiple times. In the future, individual pieces will be counted.
Click the Warehouse button on the Action Bar in the lower right corner to bring up the Warehouse menu. From this menu, you can choose to retrieve something from the Warehouse (arrow pointing out).
If you purchase any furnishings from the beta Marketplace they will appear in this list.
If you are logged into the game when you make a Marketplace purchase you may need to press the profile button (the cameo in the upper left corner above your name) to refresh your Warehouse.
When you move something from your Warehouse to your home it’s important to click on the object, “Move” and save the location before it will appear permanently to you and to other players. If you do not click the Save button in the Move Furniture window your changes will not be retained.
