(This feature is in development.)
Press the "Enter" key to begin chatting with those around you. You will see a cursor appear in the chat window on the lower left of the screen. You can now type a message in this window. Press "Enter" again when you're finished typing to send your message. This is considered "say chat" and will be seen in an area around you approximately a normal speaking voice.
It is assumed that you are speaking as your character. If you need to ask a question or say something otherwise "out of character" please enclose that text in two parenthesis, like so: ((Is anyone else having trouble finding the handkerchief for Mrs. Hatch?))
If you want to shout to the whole area use /shout before your chat. For example, /shout Stop that thief!
If you want to whisper to a small area around you use /whisper before your chat. For example, /whisper Do you know that handsome man in the doorway?
If you want to send a private message to someone use /private and their exact character name before your message. For example, /private Sarah Worthwaite Can you give me a hint for the flower locations?
We encourage you to report details of any disruptive gameplay against our Terms of Service to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you wish to be able to block a player’s chat until Customer Service can address the issue, please use the command /ignore Player Name (replace with the player’s name). The command is used much the same way as sending a private message to a character with /private Player Name. If you wish to unblock a character’s chat use the command /unignore Player Name.
Note: Right now using a ":" (colon) in chat will not display anything after the ":". For now please refrain from using colons or emojis that use colons in your chat text.
